Being able to steal the blinds is essential in a poker tournament. Used to not eat the stack during the raises. Similarly, it will be helpful to fund one or more turns at the table waiting for good opportunities to attack and win the pot.
The best place to steal the blinds is at the button or the cut-off position (just before the button).
- The situation is more likely: the attack is done in preflop, you are the dealer and no one has bet or raised. After you are both blind. A good bet 4 to 5 times the big blind you will usually take away the blind, provided that the players of the blind do not have good enough hands to follow a raise.
- Second situation: you’re always on the button, a player before you make a small raise of three times the big blind in the middle of the game. If the player usually plays so loose, you can re-raise to try to push the players to withdraw the blind and deter the player who raised the bet at the beginning. Normally, if a raise is followed by another raise or re-raise, as the blinds can not react, unless one of them has at its disposal a AA, KK or QQ, which is not very common (statistically speaking, the pair AA does not happen once every 250 hands).
Do not trust and do not waste time to steal the blinds when you’re on the button, unless you have not played an excellent to do, since in this case, your opponents will forget your little “tricks”. You can do this every two turns or more, or in different locations, but always remaining as close as possible to the button and taking care to make sure that there has been a raise before
